  1. Introduction
    Africa Transcribe Enterprises is committed to promoting gender equality and safeguarding the rights of all individuals, particularly vulnerable groups, in all our operations. This policy outlines our commitment to creating a safe and inclusive environment that respects the dignity, rights, and welfare of every person.
  1. Purpose
    The purpose of this policy is to:
  • Establish clear guidelines for promoting gender equality and safeguarding.
  • Provide a framework for preventing and responding to incidents of gender-based violence, harassment, and discrimination.
  • Ensure compliance with Tanzanian laws and international standards, including the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW)
  • and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 5).

 

  1. Legal Framework
    • Tanzanian Laws
  • The Constitution of the United Republic of Tanzania (1977): Guarantees equality before the law and prohibits discrimination based on gender (Article 13).
  • The Sexual Offences Special Provisions Act (1998): Addresses sexual offenses and aims to protect individuals from sexual harassment and violence.
  • The Employment and Labour Relations Act (2004): Promotes equal opportunities and prohibits discrimination in the workplace.
    • International Standards
  • CEDAW: A key international treaty that outlines the rights of women and mandates states to eliminate discrimination against women.
  • SDG 5: Aims to achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls, emphasizing the need for equal opportunities and the elimination of violence.

 

  1. Scope
    This policy applies to all employees, volunteers, partners, and stakeholders of Africa Transcribe Enterprises. It encompasses all organizational activities, including project implementation, community engagement, and workplace conduct.
  1. Gender Equality Commitment
    Africa Transcribe Enterprises is dedicated to promoting gender equality by:
